What should you bring?

Items to bring

These items absolutely must be brought from your home country.

  • I.D. (Any photo I.D. )
  • WHO vaccination record (with yellow fever vaccination record).This is required to get to the Tiputini Biodiversity Station.
These items are preferably brought from your home country.
  • rain gear (you should have it at hand during boat trips)
  • sweater or jacket
  • 2 pairs of long pants, fast drying - preferably not jeans
  • a long-sleeve shirt or two
  • a pair of shorts
  • a swim suit
  • some sandals or other shoes for in camp
  • sunglasses, a hat, sun screen
  • insect repellent
  • a camera (spare batteries and all the film you expect to use)
  • binoculars
  • a flashlight or headlamp (with extra batteries)
  • a cigarette lighter (even if you don't smoke, it can be handy)
  • a small "day pack"
  • anti-malarial medication (can be bought cheaply in Ecuador)
  • other toiletries or pharmaceutical supplies that you need or might need periodically
  • anti-fungal or baby powder
  • plastic bags (life-savers for cameras in case of a downpour)
These items may be obtained in Ecuador:
  • snacks for yourself
  • alarm clock
  • toilet paper (just enough for travelling)
NOTE: Persons who are flying from Quito to Coca have a checked baggage weight limit of 10 kilos (22 lbs.).
